Royal Velco Joint Ventures Company is making significant strides in constructing the Namasale Water Supply and Sanitary System in Namasale Town Council, Amolatar District. The project, funded by the Ugandan government through the Ministry of Water and Environment with support from the World Bank, is being implemented in Amolatar and Koboko District.
Muluande Aaron, Health and Safety and Environment Officer, and Administrator at Royal Velco Joint Ventures Company, revealed that the government has invested UGX 15 billion into the project, which is expected to be completed within 15 months. With three months into the construction, the company has made remarkable progress, completing 40% of the project work.
The water treatment plant, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, will extract water from the main source and purify it before supplying it to consumers through a pipeline transmission line that pumps water to the reserve at Namasale Town Council.
Despite experiencing minor challenges, such as labor mobilization due to the popularity of fishing activities among locals, Muluande said they have faced minimal community resistance and that his staff have maintained good discipline throughout the project. To involve the local community, Royal Velco Joint Ventures Company has employed both skilled and unskilled laborers from Amolatar.
Muluande expressed his satisfaction with the project’s progress and the cooperation from the community. He is optimistic that upon completion, the water supply and sanitary system will significantly improve the residents’ quality of life by providing clean and accessible water.
The project, which commenced on July 21, 2023, demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing the country’s water supply challenges and improving sanitation infrastructure. With the Namasale Water Supply and Sanitary System underway, residents of Namasale Town Council can look forward to a more reliable and efficient water supply, enhancing the overall health and well-being of the community.
