Katakwi, Uganda | Daniel Mulalu, former Private Secretary for Political Mobilization at State House and Executive Director of the Kazi Ni Kazi Foundation, has officially launched his campaign to contest in the 2025 NRM primaries for Member of Parliament, Ngariam County in Katakwi District.
The launch took place at Kololo Ward, Katakwi Town Council, attracting large crowds including party leaders, elders, youth, and business leaders.
Mulalu outlined his vision of practical, people-centered leadership, pledging to focus on education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, and agriculture.
He promised to improve access to education by building and renovating schools, and increasing bursaries for vulnerable learners.
In health, he plans to upgrade health centers, ensure drug availability, and lobby for better maternal services. On infrastructure, he intends to push for tarmacking and maintenance of key roads.
For youth and women, Mulalu pledged to expand vocational skilling through Kazi Ni Kazi, increase access to Emyooga and PDM funds, and create market linkages for small enterprises.
In agriculture, he aims to promote modern farming, provide inputs, and support irrigation systems.
Mulalu said his campaign is a mission to restore dignity to the people of Ngariam.
He called for peaceful elections and urged fellow candidates to avoid violence.
He appealed to the Electoral Commission and security forces to stay neutral.
He confirmed that President Museveni had officially accepted his resignation from State House, allowing him to fully join elective politics.
Mulalu has been part of the NRM National Taskforce since 2011, representing Teso and Karamoja sub-regions.
Several local leaders expressed support for Mulalu, describing him as accessible and development-minded.
Youth leader Martha Atai from Palam Sub County said Mulalu had remained close to the grassroots even while in national service.
Mulalu is expected to face stiff competition from incumbent MP and Minister of State for Sports Peter Ogwang, and State House official Augustine Otuko.
Analysts predict the Ngariam race will be one of the most competitive in the Teso sub-region.
Mulalu said he trusts the people of Ngariam to choose progress and development when the time comes.
