Deputy IGG Uncovers Unqualified Staff and Teacher Absenteeism in Terego District

Terego, UgandaIn an unannounced visit to Terego District on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG), Mrs. Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe, made startling discoveries during spot checks at Cilio Health Centre III and Addu Primary School.
The Deputy IGG’s inspection revealed the deployment of unqualified personnel treating patients and rampant teacher absenteeism.
At Cilio Health Centre III, the in-charge, Dr. Francis Anguzu, was found to have been irregularly assigning unqualified staff to attend to patients.
Although Dr. Anguzu apologized and vowed never to repeat the offense, the Deputy IGG pledged to take further action against him.
In a subsequent visit to Addu Primary School, Mrs. Twinomugisha found that most teachers were frequently absent, leaving students without proper guidance or instruction.
She promptly directed the police to investigate the matter and take appropriate action, emphasizing the need for integrity and zero tolerance towards corruption in all aspects of society, especially within the education and healthcare sectors.
Mrs. Twinomugisha’s tour of West Nile sub-region aims to assess the quality of service delivery and collaborate with local leaders on anti-corruption initiatives.
Her surprise inspections have brought attention to critical issues within Terego District and highlight the importance of maintaining accountability among public officials.
Local residents are now urging increased transparency and oversight to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
The Deputy IGG’s revelations have emphasized the need for improvement in the district’s healthcare and education services, ensuring that the community receives the quality care and support it deserves.
