Tororo, Uganda – Local authorities have released the names of the victims involved in a fatal accident that occurred on Monday, November 18th, along the Mbale-Tororo Highway.
A Fuso truck, registration number UAV 044V, carrying oranges from Kumi, was involved in the incident that took place at approximately 5:00 AM near Magodesi Bridge.
According to Bukedi South Police Spokesperson, IP Johnson Mugwe, the accident resulted in the death of two individuals and left twelve others injured.
The deceased have been identified as Stella Okello, who died on the spot and Margaret Akello, who succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
The twelve individuals who sustained injuries and were taken to various hospitals for treatment include Bosco Otai, Racheal Akayo, Solomon Asudu, Mary Ikiring, Dina Akurut, John Okiria, Keveni Asio, James Okello, Jennifer Alupo, Rose Ajilong, Godpliva Ajilong and Joyce Inyangu.
The cause of the accident has been attributed to overspeeding, although the identity of the driver has not yet been established.
This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution while on the roads.
