Alebtong, Uganda – A highly spirited football tournament championed by Hon. Hamson Obua, Member of Parliament for Ajuri Constituency and Government Chief Whip, culminated in an electrifying semi-final match between Angetta FC and Omoro FC on Saturday January 25, 2025.

The Hamson Obua Ajuri Tournament, a community-centered initiative aimed at celebrating the achievements of the MP, has been lauded as a unifying platform for the people of Ajuri.
Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Alebtong, Mathias Lutwama, was the chief guest at the semi-finals, where he applauded Hon. Obua’s dedication to patriotism and his efforts to unite communities through sports.
Speaking to a vibrant crowd of football fans, Lutwama described the event as a beacon of unity and a reflection of the constituency’s resilience and progress.
“I congratulate Hon. Hamson Obua and the citizens of Ajuri for this golden achievement. This tournament is not just about football but a tool for uniting diverse groups, including religious leaders, political parties, and business communities. It is a testament to the power of sports in building a patriotic and cohesive society,” Lutwama remarked.
Lutwama used the occasion to highlight the significant milestones achieved by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government under President Yoweri Museveni’s leadership.
“Ajuri Constituency stands as a model of NRM’s vision, with remarkable developments such as seed schools, first-class medical facilities, and a well-maintained road network. This is a moment to reflect on these achievements and how they continue to transform lives,” he said.
The Deputy RDC urged the youth and the broader community to embrace the values of patriotism and service to the nation.
“As we celebrate 39 years of the NRA/Movement Revolution, let us honor the sanctified deeds of President Museveni and Hon. Hamson Obua, who have consistently prioritized the welfare of the masses,” he emphasized.
The tournament was graced by prominent district and local leaders, including LC5 Chairperson Odongo DK, Assistant RDC Okello Jimmy, District Police Commander SP Joshua Mwesigwa, Officer in Charge (OC) ASP Besigye, DISO Acidi Patrick, LC3 chairpersons from Ajuri Constituency, and various area councillors.
The semi-final match saw Omoro FC clinch a dramatic victory against Angetta FC in penalties, ending the game 5-1.
The nail-biting finish sent the crowd into jubilation, marking another milestone in the tournament that has brought excitement and pride to Ajuri Constituency.
