Kampala Police Dismiss Viral Rumors About Katwe DPC’s Death

Loading

Kampala, Uganda – The Kampala Metropolitan Police has dismissed as false a video circulating on social media claiming that Superintendent of Police David Kamugira, the Division Police Commander (DPC) of Katwe, has died along Salama Road.

According to the police, the video is misleading, malicious, and intended to create unnecessary panic. Superintendent Kamugira is alive, safe and continues to perform his duties in Katwe Division.

Police say the video appears to be a deliberate attempt to undermine the work of the DPC, particularly his recent efforts in fighting gang-related crimes in the area.

Some of these crimes have reportedly been linked to individuals in the music industry.

“The creators of this video have their own motives, but their aim seems to be discrediting the DPC’s efforts,” police stated. “However, such claims will not stop the Uganda Police Force from carrying out its responsibilities.”

Investigations are already underway to identify and apprehend those behind the video.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspects will be held accountable in accordance with the law.

The public has been urged to ignore the video and treat its contents with the contempt they deserve.
