Kisoro Ready for Tomorrow’s By-Election, Electoral Commission Confirms Smooth Preparations

Kisoro, UgandaAs Kisoro gears up for tomorrow’s critical by-election, the Electoral Commission of Uganda, led by Chairperson Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, has confirmed that all final preparations are complete.

With 322 polling stations set up to serve the district’s 162,189 registered voters, the Commission has prioritized transparency, security, and efficiency to ensure a successful election day.

Justice Byabakama, speaking at today’s final briefing, detailed the streamlined plan for Polling Day, which will kick off with the dispatch of election materials to polling stations beginning at 4:00 am.

The Electoral Commission has welcomed agents from all political candidates to observe both the setup and the voting process, aiming for an open and fair election environment.

Of the registered voters, women make up 56%, with men accounting for 44%. This demographic emphasis has heightened interest in the election, as community leaders anticipate strong female voter turnout, which could significantly influence the election’s outcome.

The Uganda Police Force will be stationed throughout Kisoro as part of a security initiative to maintain peace and prevent any disruptions.

Justice Byabakama emphasized the partnership between the Electoral Commission and police to safeguard a free and fair voting process.

“We are fully committed to a peaceful election, where every voter can exercise their rights without fear. The police are fully briefed and will work closely with our teams on the ground,” Byabakama said.

Following the close of voting at 4:00 pm, the Kisoro District Council Hall will serve as the central Tally Center, accessible only to accredited officials to protect the integrity of the vote-counting process.

With polling stations open from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, voters are encouraged to arrive early to avoid queues and follow all procedural guidelines.

The Electoral Commission has ensured that all polling officials are trained and ready to assist voters smoothly and efficiently.

Kisoro residents are now prepared for a decisive election, confident in the measures the Electoral Commission has taken to ensure their voices are heard securely and transparently.

The anticipation builds as Kisoro stands ready to exercise its democratic right, hoping tomorrow will set a new standard for future elections across the country.
