Lango Province Proposes Four Fields for Upcoming FUFA Drum Tournament

Lira, Uganda – The much-anticipated FUFA Drum Tournament is set to make its return, with preliminary rounds kicking off on February 22, 2025, according to Opio Moses, Chairperson of FUFA Northern Region.

Lango Province will officially join the competition in March 2025. 

Opio announced that four potential venues have been proposed to host Lango Province’s matches. These include: 
1. UTC Playground (Lira) 
2. UCC Aduku Playground (Apac) 
3. Angwecibange Primary School Playground (Dokolo) 
4. Apac Boma Ground (Apac) 

He emphasized that the final venue will be selected based on the readiness, availability and suitability of these grounds to meet FUFA’s standards. 

As preparations intensify, Opio confirmed that the Lango Province management team is in the final stages of formation, with names expected to be submitted to FUFA for official approval soon. 

Speaking on the progress, Lala Aaron, CEO of FUFA Northern Region, stressed the importance of timely organization, urging all provinces to submit their management team names within the next two weeks to ensure smooth coordination of the tournament. 

With the Akii Bua Olympic Stadium still under construction, Belmos Gom, Lango Province PRO, noted that the selection of an alternative venue will prioritize accessibility, crowd capacity and security to create a safe and vibrant environment for fans and players alike. 

The FUFA Drum Tournament remains a key platform for showcasing regional football talent and uniting communities through sports.

Fans across the Lango Sub-region are eagerly awaiting the kickoff as preparations continue to gain momentum.
