Dokolo, Uganda | Dokolo North County Member of Parliament, Joseph Jones Ogwal, has dismissed as fake a letter circulating on social media claiming that he had withdrawn his financial support for the Dokolo North football team ahead of the second edition of the Dwog Pacu Cup.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, July 2, the legislator described the document as fabricated, malicious and intended to mislead the public while tarnishing his reputation.
Ogwal maintained that his pledged contribution of UGX 3 million towards the Dokolo North Constituency team remains intact and will be personally delivered to the players when they officially report to camp ahead of the tournament, which kicks off on July 5, 2026.
He said the forged letter did not originate from his office and urged the public to disregard it, emphasizing that all official communication concerning his activities should only be obtained through his official channels.
The legislator also warned that those behind the forged document would be traced and brought to justice, saying he would work with the relevant authorities to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
According to Ogwal, the individuals behind the forgery are bent on dragging Dokolo North backwards by attempting to divide the constituency’s youth through misinformation.
To further motivate the team, the MP announced that he would provide an additional UGX 1.5 million should the Dokolo North side reach the final of the Dwog Pacu Cup.
Ogwal is widely recognised across the Lango sub-region for his long-standing support for sports development. Over the years, he has consistently invested in football tournaments and youth sporting activities aimed at identifying talent, promoting unity and strengthening community development.
His office reiterated that the MP remains fully committed to supporting the Dokolo North team and called upon players, supporters and residents to ignore the forged letter and rally behind the team as it prepares for the competition.
The Office also appealed to the public to reject misinformation and uphold integrity while supporting the team’s participation in the 2026 Dwog Pacu Cup.
