NRM Dokolo Sets 10 Resolutions to Restore Party Unity Ahead of 2026

Dokolo, Uganda – NRM leaders in Dokolo District have charted a new course for unity and strength ahead of the 2026 elections by passing ten strong resolutions during a high-level consultative meeting held at the residence of Dr. Anna Grace Lalam in Agolowelo, Adok Parish, Adok Sub-county.

The meeting was convened by Dr. Lalam, a vibrant NRM aspiring Woman MP for Dokolo District, and strategically facilitated by Hon. Joseph Jones Ogwal Omara, a prominent figure and aspiring MP for Dokolo North.

Their leadership brought together LCIII chairpersons, sub-county party chairpersons, district councillors, women leaders, veteran league members, and former campaign coordinators signaling a much-needed turning point for the party in Dokolo.

Dr. Lalam underscored the urgency of restoring internal cohesion within the NRM, stressing the need for reconciliation and structured engagement among leaders.

She called on all aspirants to maintain loyalty to the party and not run as independents in case of loss during the primaries, advocating for respect and trust in NRM processes.

Hon. Ogwal Omara delivered a bold message of revival, urging members to bury past divisions and work in unity for a stronger NRM.

He decried the negative impact of money-driven politics and disunity, which he said had weakened the party in previous cycles.

His call for accountability, teamwork, and love for the party was met with overwhelming approval.

Participants acknowledged the unique leadership qualities of Dr. Lalam, praising her consistency and tireless efforts in mobilizing the grassroots.

Ambrose Ogwang, an aspiring NRM district chairperson, hailed her courage and initiative, noting that this was the first time such an inclusive meeting had been convened by a woman aspirant.

He emphasized that the future of the party depended on breaking tribal lines, rejecting selfishness, and promoting cooperation.

In the spirited open discussion, members addressed root causes of division including opposition infiltration and lack of effective use of party structures.

Dr. Lalam was encouraged to continue engaging the masses and mobilizing from the ground up with  her door-to-door strategy and close connection with the ordinary people were widely seen as a winning formula.

The ten resolutions passed during the meeting include:

  1. Full support for Dr. Lalam as the NRM Woman MP flag bearer.
  2. Loyalty and unity among all NRM members in Dokolo District.
  3. No aspirant to contest as an independent after primaries.
  4. All leaders to serve as campaign agents for Dr. Lalam at the village level.
  5. Use of formal party structures in all campaign activities.
  6. Support by Dr. Lalam strictly for elected NRM flag bearers.
  7. Audit and cleanup of the NRM register at district level.
  8. Curbing greed and investing more in community well-being.
  9. Compliance with party laws and discipline.
  10. Post-primary reconciliation meeting to ensure continued unity.

Energized by the resolutions and inspired leadership, NRM leaders in Dokolo left the meeting with a renewed sense of purpose.

Many expressed optimism that under the guidance of Hon. Ogwal Omara and Dr. Lalam, the party would regain its footing, operate in unity, and position itself as the dominant political force ahead of the 2026 elections.
