By Ronald Alele

Dokolo, Uganda – Dokolo South Constituency aspirant, Richard Obura, has pledged to deliver transformative and inclusive leadership if elected in the 2026 general elections under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.

Speaking during an exclusive interview, Obura reiterated his commitment to the constituency, affirming that his leadership would prioritize the needs of the people under the slogan, “Putting People First.”

“I am in this race because I want to give quality representation to my people. They deserve better leadership that truly listens and acts on their concerns,” Obura stated.

Obura outlined a robust legislative agenda centred on education, agriculture, health, youth empowerment and community development.

He promised to introduce educational scholarships to support students, agricultural interventions to boost productivity for farmers and programs aimed at empowering women and youth to unlock their potential.

“We will prioritize sports initiatives, improve healthcare services, and support the aspirations of young people. Dokolo South deserves leadership that drives radical change and fosters progress,” he emphasized.

Obura assured voters of his commitment to inclusivity and consultation.

He pledged to hold quarterly meetings with constituents to document their concerns and ensure follow-up actions.

“Representation should be people-centered. I will consult my people before making critical decisions in Parliament,” he added.

According to Obura, effective representation has been lacking in Dokolo South.

He aims to address this gap by advocating for the constituency’s interests at the national level and ensuring developmental projects reach the grassroots.

Commending President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his strides in security, infrastructure and reconstruction, Obura promised to work closely with the government to sustain development in Dokolo South.

“We must strengthen the collaboration between the executive and the legislature to secure meaningful progress for our people,” he said.

The youthful aspirant assured residents that his leadership would bring “energy and new ideas” to the constituency.

He promised to champion quality legislation to improve the socio-economic conditions of Dokolo South and make it a model for other parts of Lango.

“It’s time for Dokolo residents to distinguish between leaders and rulers. Let’s vote for leaders who consult their people and prioritize development. Otherwise, our district’s potential will go to waste,” he urged.

Obura appealed to the electorate to entrust him with the mandate to serve.

“If I get the seat, we will achieve great exploits. Dokolo South will see radical changes that improve everyone’s quality of life,” he assured.

As the race heats up, Obura has positioned himself as a beacon of hope for Dokolo South, promising transformative leadership built on inclusivity, accountability and a passion for progress.

The journey to 2026 offers the people of Dokolo South a choice: to embrace a future of development and empowerment under Obura ’s leadership.
