Otuke, Uganda – The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Otuke, George Abdul, has applauded former youth leaders of the district for their leadership contributions and unwavering support for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
During their visit to his office on March 19, the youth leaders checked on the RDC and reaffirmed their commitment to development initiatives in the district.
Abdul thanked them for their past service and urged them to spread awareness about the achievements of the NRM government, particularly the peace and stability it has brought to Northern Uganda.
He highlighted the end of Karimojong raids in Otuke as one of the major successes of the government’s security efforts.
The RDC encouraged the former youth leaders to actively promote peace by discouraging land conflicts, domestic violence and youth involvement in crime such as theft and drug abuse.
He also rallied them to support President Yoweri Museveni, emphasizing that the NRM government remains committed to fighting poverty.
He cited initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM), which allocates UGX 1 million to each household to boost economic empowerment.
Geoffrey Odongo, General Secretary of the NRM Youth League and former Otuke District Youth Council Chairperson, commended Abdul for his effective coordination of government programs, particularly the PDM.
He noted that the initiative has visibly improved youth businesses and livelihoods.
Odongo also praised the RDC for overseeing road rehabilitation projects and fostering cooperation between political and technical leaders in the district.
In appreciation of his efforts, the former youth leaders gifted the RDC with a goat, recognizing his dedication to the development of Otuke.
