Soroti, Uganda – Soroti City Woman MP Joan Alobo Acom has spoken out for the first time following her incarceration in Soroti government prisons, reaffirming her commitment to serving the people of Soroti.
Alobo, alongside FDC Party President Patrick Amuriat Oboi, Soroti City West Division MP Jonathan Ebwalu, and several others, was arrested earlier this month during the “No Cow, No Vote” protest, which sought to highlight issues affecting the region.
After being granted bail, Alobo released a heartfelt statement expressing gratitude to her supporters, legal team, fellow politicians and the media for their unwavering support during her detention.
She assured her constituents that she remains committed to advocating for their rights and will not be intimidated.
“……To my voters, you are the best. I will stand for you, speak for you, and stand with you until the end. Nothing will intimidate me from advocating on your behalf……,” Alobo stated.
She also extended special thanks to her legal representatives, fellow MPs, councillors, political party members, human rights activists and the media for their role in securing her release.
Alobo praised her FDC fraternity and #TeamAlobo, emphasizing that their support had given her strength during the difficult period.
Her statement marks her first official communication since the arrest, signaling her renewed dedication to her role as Soroti City’s representative.
