Police Hunt Suspects in Kwania Brutal Murder Case

Kwania, Uganda | Police in Kwania District have launched a manhunt for multiple suspects following a gruesome hacking murder in Echeheleye Village, Akali Sub-county.

According to authorities, 54-year-old Akullu Molly was attacked in her home at around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

She was reportedly hacked multiple times with a panga, sustaining fatal injuries, while her 4-year-old granddaughter and 17-year-old daughter were also injured.

Another family member, Anaso Jessica, was hurt while attempting to intervene.

Police say one suspect, Apio Stella, has been arrested to assist with investigations, while the main attacker, Odongo Ronald, and other accomplices remain at large.

“We are leaving no stone unturned in tracing and apprehending the suspects,” said SP PJ Okema, Police Spokesperson for North Kyoga Region.

The crime scene was swiftly secured and documented by officers from Akali Sub-county Police Station, the Homicide Unit, and Scene of Crime personnel.

The body of the deceased was taken to Aduku Health Centre IV for postmortem, and PF3 forms were issued for the injured.

Authorities say the attack may have been motivated by a long-standing land dispute dating back to April 2024.

Police have urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward.

“This was a callous attack that has left a family devastated,” SP Okema added, extending condolences to the bereaved family and promising justice.
