Amolatar, Uganda | Police in Amolatar District are investigating a murder following a violent altercation at a drinking joint in Kabangala Village, Muntu Subcounty.
According to the Territorial Police, the incident occurred on 28 February 2026 at around 7:30 PM when a misunderstanding arose between Elwonge, 40, a local resident of Nakituba ‘A’ Village, and Ayoki Denis, 54, from Awercek Village. The dispute reportedly escalated into a physical fight, during which the suspect allegedly assaulted the deceased.
Elwonge returned home after the incident and went to bed but was later found dead on 1 March 2026 at about 10:00 AM. Preliminary investigations indicate that injuries sustained during the fight may have contributed to his death.
A case of murder by assault has been registered at Amolatar Central Police Station (CPS). Detectives, together with the District Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), visited the scene, recorded witness statements, and conveyed the body to Amolatar Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination. A PF 48 form has been issued, and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
The police have called on the public to resolve disputes peacefully and report any violent incidents promptly. “Acts of violence arising from minor misunderstandings are condemnable,” said SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, Public Relations Officer, North Kyoga Region.
