Entebbe, Uganda – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has ordered the revocation of police bonds granted to officials implicated in embezzlement and extortion related to the Parish Development Model (PDM) in the Lango sub-region.
The directive, announced through a press release from the Presidential Press Unit on February 2, 2025, follows the President’s recent visit to the region and a damning report by the late Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka (RIP), dated January 25, 2025.
The report exposed widespread corruption involving local officials who allegedly extorted funds meant for PDM beneficiaries, undermining the government’s efforts to alleviate poverty at the grassroots level.
President Museveni, in a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, reaffirmed his zero-tolerance stance on corruption, warning that any public official who fails to prosecute the implicated individuals will face consequences.
“Any official who does not do their duty in prosecuting those thieves (suspected) will be held accountable,” he stated.
This directive is part of the government’s broader commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and good governance.
By taking decisive action against corrupt practices, the President aims to restore public trust and ensure that the PDM initiative benefits its intended recipients.
The crackdown sends a strong message across the country that corruption will not be tolerated, and those involved whether directly or through negligence will face the full force of the law.
