Public Access to NIRA Kololo Offices Suspended Ahead of Major State Event

Loading

Kampala, Uganda — The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has announced a temporary restriction on public access to its Head Office at Kololo, effective Tuesday, 29th April 2025.

The move comes as the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds are designated to host a major state function, necessitating security and logistical measures that limit public entry.

According to NIRA Management, all client-facing services typically offered at Kololo will be temporarily shifted to NIRA offices in the five Divisions of Kampala.

This adjustment is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted service delivery while preparations and management of the state function are underway.

Technical staff from the Kololo office will be deployed across the divisional offices to provide necessary support and maintain service standards.

Meanwhile, clients are encouraged to utilize NIRA’s online platforms for a range of services, including:

1. Tracking the status of National IDs.

2. Confirmation of Information Letters.

3. Confirmation of National Identification Numbers (NINs).

4. Verification of documents.

5. Filing of marriage returns.

6. Applications for civil marriages.

7. Accessing marriage registration requirements.

Online services can be accessed via http://www.nira.go.ug and http://www.marriages.nira.go.ug.

NIRA clarified that all other district offices across the country will continue to operate normally during this period.

Normal operations at the Kololo Head Office are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, 30th April 2025.

The Authority apologized for any inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering seamless services to the public.
