Nwoya, Uganda | Security operatives in Nwoya District have recovered a submachine gun (SMG) believed to have been used in recent criminal activities that terrorized communities in the area.
The operation was conducted on Saturday, June 14, 2025, by police officers in Paminyai Sub-county following actionable intelligence from residents of Nyamukino and Gotapwoyo villages.
According to police, community members intercepted a white Ipsium vehicle, registration number UAP 032E, suspected of transporting 11 stolen goats.

Upon receiving the alert, officers swiftly responded and arrested Omony Dicken, a 28-year-old broker and resident of Pece-Laroo Division in Gulu City.
During interrogation, Omony provided information that led the police to Purongo Sub-county, where the SMG rifle was recovered.
The firearm was found abandoned in a bush near an electric pole. It had no ammunition at the time of recovery.
Police investigations into the case are ongoing, with efforts underway to track down additional suspects and accomplices linked to the firearm and livestock theft.
Authorities have commended the local community for their vigilance and cooperation, which they say played a key role in the success of the operation.
