Soroti, Uganda – In a bold move to ensure every child is back in school, Soroti District’s Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Eseru Paul, has issued a powerful directive to all parents in the district.
In an announcement released on January 31, 2025, the RDC called on all parents to ensure their children report to school on Monday, February 3, 2025, without exception.
The directive is part of an operation that will be led by the RDC himself, in collaboration with local police, to enforce the school attendance law.
He vowed to arrest any parents found with children at home on Monday.
The operation will also involve the active participation of local leaders, including Honorable Councillors, LC3s, LC2s and LC1s, who have been tasked with ensuring that all learners are accounted for and report to school.
This unprecedented move reflects the district’s commitment to prioritizing education and ensuring that every child in Soroti returns to the classroom.
The RDC has made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for any resistance and any concerns or pushback should be directed to the RDC’s office.
The RDC aims to ensure that Soroti’s children are given the opportunity they deserve for a brighter future.
