Kalaki, Uganda – Dr. Wilfred Olila, a lecturer at Soroti University and a renowned Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Otuboi Town Council, Kalaki District.
His body, discovered on January 18, 2025, had his hands tied with rope, raising suspicions about foul play.
Dr. Olila was wearing a uniform of the Uganda Medical Association T Shirt when his body was found.
While the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, police have yet to issue an official statement on the case, leaving the community searching for answers.
According to Isaac Olila, the deceased’s son, concern arose when Dr. Olila failed to return home at his usual time of 7:00 p.m. on January 17.
Upon hearing reports of a body found in Otuboi, the family sent their clan leader, Awitong Alunga Shaban, to confirm the identity.
The family was devastated when it was confirmed to be Dr. Olila.
Dr. Olila, who graduated from Makerere University in 1984, was a beloved figure in the Lango region.
He ran a successful ENT clinic in Lira, offering medical care to countless individuals and was a dedicated educator at Soroti University.
His contributions to both medicine and education had earned him respect and admiration.
The identity of those potentially involved in Dr. Olila’s death remains unknown.
Dr. Olila’s death has left a significant void, not only for his family but also for the medical and academic fields in Uganda.
