Lira District, Uganda – Otuke RDC and Lango RDC Whip George Abudul has intensified his consultative meeting for the 2026 parliamentary race for Erute South under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.
Addressing the Kaguta Cup campaign team on December 20, Abudul emphasized his readiness to reclaim Erute South from the opposition’s UPC candidate, Odur Jonathan, who has held the seat for two consecutive terms.
During the meeting in Awiodyek Sub-County, Abudul, a staunch NRM cadre born in October 1986, highlighted his dedication to NRM principles since his political career began in 2009 as the Guild President of Makerere University Westnile Campus.
Backed by a history of loyalty and strategic leadership, he recounted his rise to prominence, including serving as NRM Youth Vice Chairperson for Lira District in 2010.
The Kaguta Cup campaign team, led by retired government headteacher Elonge Maxwell Okwir, reaffirmed its commitment to rallying support for all NRM candidates in the Lango sub-region.
With 300 members, the group has been a pillar in mobilizing grassroots support for the NRM since its establishment in 2016.
Elonge emphasized their focus on poverty eradication through poultry and piggery projects and revealed plans to transform the group into a cooperative.
Elonge urged Abudul to forward their requests to higher government authorities, particularly regarding unresolved cattle compensation for Lango residents, a critical issue they believe could impact voter sentiment in 2026.
He also reminded Abudul of unfulfilled promises from President Museveni in 2021, including the provision of 50 iron sheets, UGX 5 million, and 50 bags of cement per member of Kaguta Cup group.
In response, Abudul assured the group of his commitment to addressing their concerns.
He emphasized that loyalty and dedication to the NRM ideology are essential for achieving tangible benefits for the sub-region.
He acknowledged the need for follow-ups on unfulfilled pledges and urged constituents to elect leaders who are deeply rooted in the community and understand its challenges.
Abudul also condemned opposition tactics aimed at undermining government programs and called for unity among NRM members to strengthen the party’s position in the region.
He noted that political success requires tough decisions and resilience, emphasizing the importance of truth in countering opposition propaganda.
As a gesture of goodwill, Abudul donated UGX 500,000 to support the Kaguta Cup Campaign team’s initiatives and provided two balls to the youth of Alworo Parish.
He commended Elonge for his exemplary leadership and dedication to community development, citing his transition from a career in education to successful poultry farming as an inspiration.
Abudul appealed to voters to uphold allegiance to the NRM by electing leaders who prioritize development over personal interests.
With robust grassroots support and strategic plans to address pressing community issues, Abudul’s campaign is poised to challenge the dominance of UPC in Erute South, setting the stage for a heated electoral battle in 2026.
The coming leadership needs a servant not a Master. A servant is that person who serves it’s subject rather than demanding from them.
It needs an open hearted person who gives generously to support it’s subject at every point of time it requires not selfish and greedy leaders.
