Oyam, Uganda | Truth Fountain Ministries has strongly denied allegations circulating online that its leaders were involved in extorting money from community members under the pretence of linking them to a non-governmental organization (NGO).
The incident unfolded on Friday at the church premises, when a group of individuals claiming to represent Steward of Grace sought permission from church authorities and local leaders to carry out activities. Reports later alleged that the group attempted to solicit money from community members, promising access to housing and financial support through an NGO. Security was promptly alerted, and swift action was taken to protect congregants.
Resident Pastor Fabius Alobo told journalists during a press visit that he had initially been informed that the group was an NGO working with churches. However, he later realized their intentions were questionable.
Church administrator Patrick Agetta clarified that Rev Peter Engola had been away for nearly a month and was unaware of the incident. As custodian of the church, Agetta confirmed he was informed of the group’s presence, though their true mission was not disclosed at the time.
Church deacon Isaac Odongo dismissed allegations that senior Reverend Peter Engola was involved. He assured the public that no extortion had taken place within the church.
Rev. Engola has since been confirmed to be actively ministering with a team from Jesus Alive Ministries in Loro Subcounty, free of any connection to the incident.
