Dokolo, Uganda | Candidate for Workers Member of Parliament (MP) for the 2026–2031 term, Tukei Smith, has issued a strong appeal to workers across Dokolo and Uganda to support his bid in the upcoming primary elections.
In a statement released yesterday, Tukei called on members of the workers’ fraternity, describing them as brothers, sisters, and people of goodwill, to unite behind his candidacy.
He emphasized that his strength is derived from their collective support and reaffirmed his reliance on divine guidance throughout his campaign journey.
Tukei described the forthcoming primary as more than a contest for votes but a critical moment to demonstrate unity and a shared commitment to improving workers’ welfare across the country.
He urged voters to consider the election as a step toward ensuring that workers’ voices are heard, their rights protected, and their contributions properly valued.
Highlighting the need for wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, Tukei pledged to work towards building a workers’ league that will serve as a foundation for progress, transcending past differences.
Addressing the unique challenges faced by Northern Uganda, Tukei noted the region’s historical underrepresentation in key political positions.
He positioned his campaign as a pivotal opportunity to amplify the concerns of workers from the North, promising dedicated representation in the Workers’ Parliament.
Drawing inspiration from leadership principles of prominent figures such as Nelson Mandela and Wangari Maathai, Tukei committed himself to serve with empathy, resilience, integrity, and courage.
He highlighted the importance of advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignified treatment for all workers, whether unionized or not.
He urged Ugandans to trust in his leadership and support his vision for a stronger, more equitable future for the workers of Dokolo and the entire country.
