Two Amolatar Teachers Arrested in Dokolo for Drinking During Class Hours

Dokolo, Uganda – Police in Dokolo District have arrested two primary school teachers from Amolatar District for alleged negligence of duty and drinking alcohol during working hours. 

Paul Odoch, the Officer-in-Charge of Kangai Police Station, confirmed the incident on Monday while speaking to Dokolo Post in a telephone interview. 

Odoch identified the suspects as Tonny Okello from Alelango Primary School in Muntu Subcounty and Ogwang Ebitu from Acanoryema Primary School in Opali Subcounty.

The two were arrested around 11:00 a.m. while drinking alcohol at Ogweng Ayo Inn, located in Amati Cell, Akurulango Ward, Kangai Town Council, Dokolo District. 

The police officer stated that the duo faces charges of negligence of duty and drunkenness during class hours under case reference SD Ref 08/24/2025. 

Ronald Ogweng, the Amolatar District Inspector of Schools, condemned the teachers’ behavior, emphasizing that their actions violate the ethical code of conduct for teachers.

He assured the public that the district authorities are working closely with the police to follow up on the matter. 

The arrest highlights ongoing concerns about professional misconduct among public servants, with authorities pledging to enforce disciplinary measures against offenders.
