Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) has today released its internal roadmap for the 2025/2026 general elections, following the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) updated national schedule.

The roadmap, approved by the UPC Cabinet during a meeting on 24 April 2025, aligns with Article 21 (1)(2) of the UPC Constitution 2008 (as amended).

It sets out key timelines for membership registration, internal party elections, and the nomination of flag bearers at all elective levels.

According to the Party Electoral Commission (PEC), membership registration and issuance of cards will continue through June 2025.

Branch, parish, sub-county, constituency and district elections are scheduled between May and July 2025.

Party presidential elections will be conducted at the village level from May to June 2025, culminating with the swearing-in of the Party President following district and delegates’ conferences by 30 July 2025.

Primaries for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will run from May to August 2025, while primaries for Local Governments and Parliament will take place between July and August 2025.

Party flag bearers are expected to be declared on 11 August 2025.

The handling of election petitions arising from the primaries is slated for 12–21 August 2025, with the final PEC General Report to be completed by March 2026.

The party has invited all interested members seeking positions including Party President, Member of Parliament, District Chairperson (LCV) and City Mayor to collect and return their application forms at the Party Headquarters on the 6th Floor of Uganda House, Kampala.

In a statement, the UPC emphasized its commitment to ensuring a democratic, transparent and organized electoral process as the country prepares for the 2026 general elections.
