Apac, Uganda | The Office of the President has officially reversed an earlier directive transferring Okot Peter Jonal, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC), from Apac District to Lira City East Division.
The reversal was communicated in a letter dated May 30, 2025, signed by Hajji Yunus Kakande, the Secretary in the Office of the President.

The letter confirmed that Okot will continue to serve in his current role in Apac District until further notice.
Okot welcomed the decision, stating that he respects the authority of the appointing body and remains fully committed to serving wherever he is deployed.
He explained that, as part of his terms of appointment, he had already signed consent to serve in any part of the country, and therefore had no objection to the changes or the reversal.
The development has been formally communicated to the Minister for the Presidency, the Resident District Commissioner of Apac, and the Resident and Deputy Resident City Commissioners of Lira City.
The decision to retain Okot in Apac comes at a time when the government is conducting a broader reassessment of deployments aimed at streamlining service delivery and reinforcing administrative stability at the district level.
During his time in Apac, Okot has played a key role in the coordination of government programs, maintaining security, and enhancing community-government engagement.
