Apac, Uganda – The Office of the President in Apac District, through Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) Jonal Okot, has handed over UGX 10 million as condolence from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the family of the late Okello Brian.

The funds were delivered on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in recognition of Okello’s contributions to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Okello Brian, who passed away on March 6, 2025, was the NRM Chairperson for Chegere Subcounty. He assumed this position after Chegere was split from Teboke Subcounty.
His leadership was marked by his commitment to promoting government programs aimed at poverty eradication and socio-economic transformation.
While delivering the condolence, Assistant RDC Okot commended President Museveni for remembering and appreciating party members who have played crucial roles in advancing the NRM agenda.
He emphasized that those who serve diligently in the government will always be recognized.
“The NRM government values its people and acknowledges the efforts of those who contribute to its vision. Those who serve in leadership and support government programs will not be forgotten,” Okot stated.
He urged the bereaved family and community members to embrace government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Youth Livelihood Program, and EMYOOGA to uplift themselves from poverty.
He highlighted poverty as the major challenge affecting many Ugandans and stressed the need for active participation in wealth creation programs.
Okot also expressed gratitude to Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero (Lira City Woman MP) for her efforts in ensuring that the condolence reaches the family.
He further applauded Mazuri County MP aspirant Benard Otim Odoch for working closely with Dr. Aceng to facilitate the process.
“The government is committed to supporting its people, and we appreciate Dr. Aceng and Hon. Otim Odoch for their role in ensuring this support reaches the bereaved family,” he added.
He advised the family never to forget the President’s gesture and encouraged them to honour Okello Brian’s legacy by remaining committed to NRM’s development agenda.
The event was attended by NRM leaders, local government officials, and community members who expressed their appreciation for the President’s support.
