Kampala, Uganda | Allegations circulating online claiming that the Executive Director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), Dr. Chris Mukiza, attempted to shoot Rubanda West Member of Parliament Moses Kamuntu during an incident at a hotel in Kololo have been dismissed by authorities as unverified and lacking official backing.

The claims, which originated from an online publication and have since been widely shared on social media platforms, suggested that a confrontation involving the two individuals escalated into a violent situation.

However, security officials have stated that no such incident has been formally reported.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire indicated that police records do not show any report related to the alleged altercation or shooting attempt.

“From our records, no such incident has been registered at any police station within the Kampala Metropolitan area,” he said, noting that investigations can only proceed where an official complaint has been lodged.

Separately, individuals familiar with Dr. Mukiza’s official duties noted that his movements are routinely managed under structured security and administrative protocols, including the use of assigned drivers and professional protection arrangements.

The allegations further claimed misconduct and intoxication, assertions that have not been independently verified by any competent authority.

As of now, neither Dr. Mukiza nor MP Kamuntu has issued a detailed public statement addressing the circulating reports.

Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution when engaging with unverified information online, emphasizing the importance of relying on confirmed sources before drawing conclusions on sensitive matters.
