Mombasa, Kenya – Otuke East MP Julius Achon Bua solidified his place as East Africa’s fastest legislator by winning gold in the 150-meter race at the ongoing 14th East African Parliamentary Games.

His exceptional performance highlighted Uganda’s prowess on the track and reaffirmed his status as a champion of both sports and leadership.

Achon’s victory came as no surprise to those familiar with his athletic legacy.

A former Olympian and celebrated long-distance runner, Achon demonstrated his enduring strength, speed, and determination by outpacing his competitors in a thrilling race that left spectators in awe.

His gold medal win is a testament to his remarkable ability to balance his duties as a legislator with his passion for athletics.

Speaking after his triumph, Achon dedicated the win to his country and emphasized the unifying power of sports.

“This win is for Uganda and for everyone proving we can excel in all arenas. I am proud to represent my country and inspire others to pursue greatness,” he said, beaming with pride.

His remarks resonated with the core values of the games—unity, teamwork, and regional integration.

Achon’s success is not just about personal glory; it represents Uganda’s broader dominance in athletics at the East African Parliamentary Games.

The country’s delegation has delivered stellar performances across various disciplines, with Hon. Ssekitoleko of Bamunakika County secured the 1500-meter race in the parliamentary staff category.

The games hosted in Mombasa under the theme “EAC @25, Enhancing Integration through Inter-Parliamentary Games,” bring together legislators and parliamentary staff from across East Africa to foster unity through sports.

The opening ceremony featured a vibrant procession through Mombasa City, culminating in a curtain-raiser football match where the combined team of Uganda’s Parliament and the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) defeated the County Assembly of Mombasa team 2-1.

The games will run until December 18, featuring events such as athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, tug-of-war, and darts.

Achon’s victory, however, stands out as a shining moment, embodying the spirit of excellence and perseverance.

As a leader and an athlete, he continues to inspire not only his constituents in Otuke East but also a generation of East Africans striving to excel in their respective fields.

As Uganda’s delegation looks forward to upcoming events, Achon’s triumph serves as a rallying call for unity and determination.

In his dual role as a legislator and sportsman, he exemplifies the transformative power of leadership grounded in discipline, resilience, and passion.
