Dokolo, Uganda – The community of Apenyoweo village, Apenyoweo Parish, Okwongodul S/C, Dokolo District, expressed immense joy on April 11th, as they received an engine boat donated by the Woman MP of Dokolo, Hon. Sarah Aguti Nyangkori.

The engine boat, valued at 5 million shillings, is intended to serve the community, facilitating easier access across the Amodo swamp to connect Dokolo South and North.

Residents of Apenyoweo, including John Odam, Patrick Ogili, Geoffrey Orye and Betty Alwedo, expressed their deep gratitude for the donation, highlighting how the swamp had claimed the lives of many innocent people in the past.

The Local Council I Chairperson of Apenyoweo village, Tom Ayanga, also voiced his appreciation, thanking MP Aguti for her timely intervention and commitment to improving the lives of the community.

Jimmy Awany Cingmalu, who represented Hon. Sarah Aguti Nyangkori during the handover, stated that the boat would assist residents in crossing the swamp, particularly when traveling to marketplaces.

He also mentioned that the boat would be available for free every Friday, but a small fee of 1,000 shillings for fuel would be charged from Monday to Thursday.

Awany urged the community to take good care of the boat, ensuring its continued availability and functionality for the benefit of all.

This donation comes after the tragic loss of three lives in Amodo swamp, further emphasizing the necessity of such a community resource.
