Dokolo, Uganda – Joseph Jones Ogwal Omara, Dokolo North MP aspirant, has fulfilled his promise to Alenga Primary School in Acan Pii Parish, Dokolo Sub-county, Dokolo District by donating 18 iron sheets to roof a teacher’s house.Â

During the school’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in December 2024, parents raised concerns about the shortage of teachers, including only seven government teachers and four PTA-paid teachers.
They also highlighted the need for 18 iron sheets to complete a teacher’s house, which was straining the community.
Ogwal pledged to provide the iron sheets to improve teacher welfare and ensure their presence at the school.Â
At the handover event on March 12, 2025, Ogwal expressed satisfaction in delivering his promise, emphasizing that supporting education is a key part of his agenda.
He praised the parents for their dedication to developing the school and urged them to prioritize education.Â
Ogwal highlighted that Dokolo has struggled with poor academic performance over the past three years due to inadequate facilities, limited parental support and a shortage of well-trained teachers.
He promised to engage with schools, parents and other stake holders to improve learning through problem-based education, exam practice and vocational skills training.Â
“I want to make Dokolo better by creating a skilled generation. We need to build a critical mass of skilled experts who can compete nationally and address social issues,” Ogwal said, calling on the community to trust him and vote for him as their next MP in 2026.Â
LC III of Dokolo Sub-county, Adoko Ogwal Opio, who followed up on Ogwal’s pledge, commended him for delivering on his promise.
He described Ogwal as a humble and visionary leader committed to community development and urged residents to support his bid for parliament.
Adoko also pledged to provide fuel for cutting trees to obtain timber for the roofing project.Â
The headteacher of Alenga Primary School, Abura Peter, thanked Ogwal for the timely donation, noting that the district recently posted two additional government teachers, bringing the total to 12.
He said roofing the teacher’s house will save the school from renting accommodation and improve staff retention.Â
Geoffrey Odur, LC III of Amwoma Sub-county, representing Ogwal, revealed that Ogwal also plans to support schoolgirls with sanitary pads to improve hygiene.
He urged the school to provide land for tree planting to replace those cut for timber.Â
Okello David, the School Management Committee (SMC) chairperson and Ogwang Moses, the PTA chairperson, both welcomed the donation, emphasizing that having a teacher reside on campus will improve time management and academic performance.Â
Ogwal reaffirmed his commitment to transforming education in Dokolo North and promised to deliver more services if elected as MP in 2026.
