Lira, Uganda – Lira University has suspended seven students for one academic year due to examination malpractice.
The disciplinary action was announced by the Academic Registrar, Geoffrey Angela, and the Lira University Quality Assurance, Timetable, and Examinations Committee (QATEC) on March 2, 2025.
The affected students will miss classes until Semester II of the 2025/2026 academic year.
Below is a detailed account of the suspended students, their offenses, and penalties:
1. Akello Sharon
● Student ID: 23/U/0151/EAG/PS
● Department: Science and Vocational Studies, Faculty of Education
● Offense: Contravening Section 5.2 (a) (i) of the Examination Rules and Regulations.
Penalties:
● Suspended for one academic year until Semester II, 2025/2026.
● Examination results for EAG 2105 – Agricultural Research Design and Biometrics canceled.
● Must retake the canceled exam after serving the penalty.
● Must report to the Dean of Students’ Office for counseling before resuming studies.
● Must submit a written apology.
● Issued a strong final warning against future malpractice.
2. Akite Florence Omara
● Student ID: 22/U/0028/EES/PS
● Department: Distance Learning, Faculty of Education
● Offense: Contravening Section 5.2 (a) (i) of the Examination Rules and Regulations.
Penalties:
● Suspended for one academic year until Semester II, 2025/2026.
● Examination results for EHS 3102 – Nationalism in Africa up to 1963 canceled.
● Must retake the canceled exam after serving the penalty.
● Must report to the Dean of Students’ Office for counseling before resuming studies.
● Must submit a written apology.

3. Atala Caroline

The Academic Registrar, Geoffrey Angela, has issued a stern warning to all students to familiarize t8hemselves with the Examination Rules and Regulations to avoid similar consequences.
