Nebbi, Uganda | The National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders in Greater Nebbi have thrown their weight behind David Calvin Echodu, who is vying for the position of NRM National Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda.
Echodu was warmly received by NRM chairpersons from Pakwach, Nebbi Municipal, Nebbi District, and Zombo District, along with the LC5 Chairman and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Zombo.
The leaders commended him for choosing Greater Nebbi as the first stop in his regional consultations.
The LC5 Chairman James Oyullu Oruna expressed gratitude for being the first to host Echodu in the region and applauded the NRM delegates for their continued support to the party.
Ambassador Nelson Ocheger, the campaign chairman, described Echodu as a visionary and action-oriented young leader.
He emphasized Echodu’s long-standing commitment to the party, pointing out his physical, spiritual, and financial support for President Museveni and the NRM from an early age.
In his remarks, Echodu promised to deliver quality grassroots representation to the party chairman.
He pledged to work closely with local structures to ensure inclusivity and empowerment.
He also revealed plans to establish SACCOS for party delegates with funding sourced through the ruling party, and to improve the facilitation of district-level party offices to enhance daily operations.
He noted that the party under President Museveni’s strong leadership only needed fresh minds and renewed energy to move to the next level.
The RDC of Zombo Festus Ayikobua commended Echodu’s character and vision, describing him as a humble and focused leader.
He encouraged the delegates to uphold peace and unity and discouraged hatred and political fights within the party.
Miss Irene, the ONC Coordinator, called for the inclusion of women in empowerment programs, stressing their significant contribution to the party’s electoral success.
She also emphasized the urgent need to improve road infrastructure across the subregion to boost development.
An elder, Okello, raised concern over the lack of recognition for veterans who fought for peace in the region.
He appealed to the President to honor these elders for their contributions.
In response, Echodu assured the delegates that he would work hand in hand with the President to address their concerns.
He emphasized the importance of empowering delegates and strengthening their capacity to implement government programs effectively.
The delegates expressed their confidence in Echodu’s leadership and unanimously endorsed him as their preferred candidate for NRM National Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda.
