Lira, Uganda – In its first participation in the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Jerusalem Heritage School has recorded a 100% pass rate, with all 18 pupils successfully passing the national exams.
Out of the 18 candidates, 13 achieved Division I, while the remaining 5 secured Division II. Notably, none of the pupils fell into Division III, Division IV, or the ungraded category.
Erasmus Okiror, the Principal of Jerusalem Heritage School, attributed the success to strategic planning, collaboration and dedicated efforts by the teachers and pupils.
He explained that pupils completed the syllabus on time, which allowed sufficient time for revision and mastery of content.
The school also adopted team teaching, where teachers worked collectively across different levels to close learning gaps and ensure all topics were well covered.
The school further emphasized regular assessments and evaluations, which helped track pupils’ progress consistently.
Okiror noted that challenges faced by individual pupils were identified early and addressed through personalized support.
He added that small group discussions created an interactive learning environment where pupils engaged deeply with the material.
The school also invested in teacher refresher courses, which introduced modern and innovative teaching methods to improve classroom delivery.
Okiror revealed that holistic education has been a priority for Jerusalem Heritage School where pupils are involved in practical programs such as fish farming, poultry farming and environmental conservation, equipping them with hands-on skills.
According to Okiror, spiritual growth is also nurtured through regular fellowships, which foster values and character development alongside academic work.
Parental involvement has been another key pillar of the school’s success.
Okiror explained that the school organizes class days, exhibitions, and general meetings, giving parents an active role in their children’s education.
He noted that this partnership between parents, teachers, and the administration has contributed significantly to the pupils’ performance.
Teacher motivation has also been a focus at Jerusalem Heritage School, Okiror revealed.
He highlighted that teachers are supported through competitive salaries, a positive work environment and recognition of their efforts.
Teachers who deliver exceptional results, such as pupils achieving distinctions, are rewarded with tokens of appreciation.
Okiror said this recognition not only boosts morale but also encourages teachers to maintain their commitment to high-quality education.
Looking to the future, Okiror outlined the school’s plans to sustain and enhance its success.
He announced plans to build a science laboratory and an IT lab to promote practical and technological learning.
He also emphasized the importance of improving teacher welfare and maintaining strong partnerships with parents and the community.
Jerusalem Heritage School’s remarkable performance in the PLE, Okiror said, reflects its dedication to excellence in education.
He expressed optimism that the school will continue to grow and equip its pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
