Dokolo, Uganda | Dokolo Chief Magistrate’s Court has undergone a routine judicial inspection aimed at assessing its preparedness ahead of the operationalisation of the Dokolo High Court Circuit.

The inspection was conducted on Wednesday by the Assistant Registrar of the Lira High Court Circuit, HW David Sayuni, who was accompanied by HW Joe Fay Adoko, the Chief Magistrate of Lira and caretaker of Dokolo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

During the visit, the inspection team toured key sections of the court, including the registry, archives, courtroom, and exhibit store to evaluate administrative efficiency, records management systems, and overall institutional readiness.

Court officials used the opportunity to highlight several operational challenges affecting service delivery at the station.

Among the concerns raised were the lack of an alternative power source, unfenced court and residential premises which expose the facility to security risks, and the absence of a court vehicle to facilitate official duties such as locus visits.

The visiting Assistant Registrar commended HW Muzeyi Vicent, Magistrate Grade One, for effective leadership and proper management of the court despite existing logistical limitations.

He noted that staff teamwork, consistent attendance, organised court records, well-maintained archives, and exhibit store reflected strong institutional discipline.

He further applauded the court for maintaining professionalism and a calm working environment, as well as displaying anti-corruption messages within the premises, which promote transparency and accountability in the administration of justice.

Sayuni assured judicial officers that the concerns raised during the inspection would be forwarded to the Judiciary’s top management for consideration, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to improving service delivery as preparations for the Dokolo High Court Circuit progress.

Dokolo Resident District Commissioner Babra Akech welcomed the inspection, expressing confidence that the establishment of the High Court in the district was on course.

She revealed that discussions had been held with the District Chairperson regarding documentation for land earmarked for the High Court, adding that the required documents are expected to be submitted to the Magistrate next week to finalise the land process.

The operationalisation of the Dokolo High Court Circuit is expected to bring justice services closer to residents, reduce case backlog, and cut transport costs for litigants who currently travel long distances to access High Court services.
