Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) chairperson, Justice Mariam Wangadya has summoned Member of Parliament representing Kilak County, Hon. Gilbert Olanya to appear before the commission to highlight more about allegations that he used discriminatory language against the Balalo.
Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) chairperson, Justice Mariam Wangadya has summoned Member of Parliament representing Kilak County, Hon. Gilbert Olanya to appear before the commission to highlight more about allegations that he used discriminatory language against the Balalo.
In the letter dated 2nd November 2023, through the Speaker of Parliament office, Kilak County legislator has to physically appear before the commission on 6th November 2023 at 10.00 am to respond to allegations summoned on him.

The office of the speaker has not yet acknowledged receipt of the said summons by press time.
However, this decision by the commission has received mixed reactions where members of the public has accused the commission of being segregative in its operations concentrating on minor issues rather than focusing on major issues affecting the mass whereas others have welcomed the decision saying all people should account for their actions.
