Kumi – The healthcare system in Kumi District is facing a crisis as district health workers threaten to go on a sit-down strike due to unpaid salaries for the past three months.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Administrative Officer of Kumi, the health workers have given the district until today, June 27th, 2024, to settle the outstanding payments.
The medics warn that they will commence the strike on June 28th, 2024 if their demands are not met by the close of business today.
The healthcare professionals are seeking resolution for their unpaid salaries from April to June 2023.
The letter, signed by the Kumi District Local Government Health Workers, has been copied to the LCV, RDC, DHO, and Management Atutur Hospital.
The notice serves as a final call to action for the district authorities to address the situation and prevent a potentially crippling disruption to healthcare services in the area.
As the district scrambles to resolve the issue, the health workers’ ultimatum hangs in the balance.
If the situation is not remedied, Kumi District residents may face a critical shortage of healthcare services, highlighting the urgency of the matter at hand.
