Kwania, Uganda | Kwania District Local Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Arova Produce Cooperative Society Limited to enhance the implementation of the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) Project in the district.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the district council hall during a business training session attended by more than 100 women entrepreneurs from across the district.

Speaking during the event, Kwania District GROW Project Focal Person Moses Opio said the district had been facing challenges on how to effectively utilize the sh150 million allocated under the project in the current financial year.

Opio explained that after consultations, the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development advised the district to partner with Arova Produce Cooperative Society, which is already implementing similar programmes in the Lango sub-region.

Daniel Ambrose Akodo, the Head of Credit Officers at Arova Produce Cooperative Society, said the cooperative works with various institutions to build the financial management capacity of beneficiaries, provide financial literacy training and extend credit services to support business growth.

He added that the cooperative would facilitate the opening of accounts for beneficiaries to enable them access financial services and manage funds for their enterprises more effectively.

Kwania District Women Council Chairperson Dorothy Awino commended the district leadership for establishing the partnership with Arova, noting that it would improve women’s access to affordable loans and strengthen their businesses.

She said empowering women economically contributes to the attainment of the government’s development agenda under the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV) and Vision 2040.
