The purpose of the meeting is to seek redress for the ongoing Wonyaci disputes, which have been a source of contention within the Lango community.

Representatives from various groups, including Owitong, religious leaders, Itogo members, the electoral commission, and both the Wonyaci Elect (Dr. Eng. MM Odongo Okune) and incumbent Wonyaci (Yosam Odur), have gathered in Kampala to ensure their voices are heard during the discussions.

Approximately 160 members from the Wonyaci Elect’s faction have undergone COVID-19 testing at Nakasero, and they are scheduled to report to State House tomorrow at 11:00 AM in anticipation of the meeting with the President.

Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okul stated that around 60 individuals from Yosam Odur’s side have also arrived in Kampala, including 44 Owitong members.

It is possible that certain individuals, such as Jacob Ocen and Imat Dorothy Apuli, may be granted special permission to attend the meeting.

As the Lango community awaits the outcome of this crucial meeting, many hope that it will bring about a resolution to the longstanding disputes surrounding Wonyaci leadership, paving way for unity and stability within the region.
