Lira, Uganda– Lira Regional Referral Hospital has reassured the public that its HIV Care Services, including Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), are fully functional, following recent concerns triggered by the temporary suspension of activities funded by the American Government.

In a statement released today, the hospital confirmed that both inpatient and outpatient services are operating as usual, ensuring continued access to HIV care and treatment.

This includes all services related to ART, which remain available to patients without disruption.

Dr. Andrew Odur, the Acting Hospital Director, emphasized that while the Ministry of Health is working on appropriate responses to address the situation, Lira Regional Referral Hospital is committed to providing uninterrupted care.

He urged patients to continue attending their appointments as scheduled, without fear of service interruptions.

The public concern stemmed from an announcement regarding the suspension of certain activities supported by US Government funding.

However, the hospital quickly moved to clarify that these financial changes will not affect HIV services provided at Lira Regional Referral Hospital.

The hospital also assured patients that they could continue receiving the same level of quality care they are accustomed to, urging those who need HIV-related services to seek them promptly.

In response to this issue, the hospital reiterated that it will continue to provide the highest level of service and that these changes will not compromise the care patients receive.

Lira Regional Referral Hospital remains a vital source of HIV care for the community and patients are encouraged to seek assistance as needed.
