Apac, Uganda – In a remarkable achievement, Maruzi Seed Secondary School in Apac District has quickly become a beacon of academic excellence, leading the charge in sending students to top universities across Uganda.
Since its establishment in 2014, the school has distinguished itself as a hub for higher education aspirations, earning a reputation as one of the best-performing secondary schools in the region.
Donald Oyera, the headmaster of Maruzi Seed Secondary School, spoke exclusively to our reporter, revealing that the school has consistently outperformed its competitors in terms of university placements, with many of its A-Level students going on to pursue higher studies in various institutions across the country.
“Our students are going places. Year after year, we send a good number of students to universities,” said Oyera. “The A-Level program here is one of the best in the region, which is why our students are so successful.”
Oyera attributes the school’s success to the solid academic foundation and dedicated teaching staff that have worked tirelessly to prepare students for university-level education.
Maruzi Seed’s reputation for academic excellence is growing, with a focus on ensuring that students not only perform well in national exams but also develop the critical thinking and skills necessary for higher education.
“We provide a high standard of education that prepares our students for the challenges of university life. Our goal is not only to teach but to mentor and shape the next generation of leaders,” Oyera added.
Oyera also took the opportunity to encourage parents in nearby districts like Lira and Gulu to consider sending their children to local schools rather than always looking to Kampala for education.
According to him, the quality of education in schools within the Lango and Acholi regions has dramatically improved and many of these institutions, like Maruzi Seed, are now capable of offering the same high standards found in the capital.
“Parents in Lira and Gulu need to embrace the quality education available here. There’s no longer a need to travel to Kampala when schools right here are excelling,” Oyera emphasized.
Looking ahead, Oyera is optimistic about the future of Maruzi Seed Secondary School and the broader educational landscape in the Lango and Acholi sub-regions.
Founded with a vision to provide quality secondary education in a region historically underserved by top-tier institutions, Maruzi Seed is now setting a new standard for schools in the area.
Its continued success is seen as a positive sign of educational progress in Apac District and beyond.
“Our goal is to make higher education more accessible to every child in this region. If we continue on this path, I’m confident that Maruzi Seed will remain a top choice for students seeking to reach their full potential,” Oyera concluded.
