Lira, Uganda – Catechists from Ngetta Parish in Lira City have expressed deep appreciation for the significant support they received from Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister of Health and Woman Member of Parliament for Lira City, during their recent pilgrimage to Kampala.
The group of 45 catechists embarked on the five-day spiritual journey this week, visiting key religious sites including the Namugongo Martyrs Shrine and the Parliament of Uganda.
The pilgrimage, led by Rev. Fr. Constantine Opio CJ, the Parish Priest of Ngetta, aimed to strengthen the catechists’ faith and spiritual resilience as they continue their vital roles in the parish.
Fr. Opio emphasized the role of such pilgrimages in revitalizing the catechists’ commitment to their work, offering them a much-needed break for reflection and growth.
“Without Dr. Aceng’s generous support, this pilgrimage would not have been possible,” Fr. Opio shared.
He explained that the minister’s contribution covered not only accommodation but also meals for the group, making the entire experience seamless and enriching.
Daniel Molly Bua, a catechist and the event coordinator, also expressed profound gratitude for the support.
He described the pilgrimage as an experience that “nourished both the body and soul,” noting that it had a lasting impact on the catechists’ spiritual journey.
He added that Dr. Aceng’s thoughtful gesture of providing tokens for the pilgrims further exemplified her commitment to their well-being.
In response, Dr. Aceng thanked God for the success of the pilgrimage and expressed her joy at being part of such a meaningful experience.
She also acknowledged Lira University for their donation of the bus that helped transport the pilgrims, highlighting the collective effort that made the journey a success.
The pilgrimage not only rejuvenated the catechists spiritually but also reinforced the power of community support and leadership in nurturing faith.
