Lira, Uganda | The Regional Police Commander (RPC) of North Kyoga SSP Doka Rashid (PSC) has ordered District Police Commanders (DPCs) to take full control of security in their areas, reduce crime, and work closely with communities.
During a regional security meeting, the RPC told DPCs, CID officers, Crime Intelligence Officers, and Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) to be proactive, disciplined, and coordinate effectively with all units.
Police spokesperson SP Jimmy Patrick Okema said the RPC emphasized the importance of identifying land conflict hotspots, deploying conflict liaison officers, and reviving community policing to improve security.
With the political season approaching, the RPC warned all officers to stay neutral and professional.
He said police must not get involved in politics but focus on their duty to protect all Ugandans equally.
The RPC also instructed commanders to strengthen Sub-County Policing modules and ensure counter phones are always working to receive and respond to public complaints.
He urged officers to make use of available resources efficiently and ensure their presence is felt in the community.
North Kyoga Region was ranked third in the 2024 crime report.
The RPC said this should improve and tasked commanders to work harder to reduce crime further.
He assured the DPCs of support from the regional team and called for full accountability, teamwork, and strong community relations to achieve better results.
