Kampala, Uganda – In a landmark event, the NRM Secretariat organized a comprehensive financial literacy training for its staff, marking a significant milestone in personal growth and development. The induction, held at the secretariat’s headquarters on Plot 10, Kyadondo Road, empowered staff with essential skills to manage their incomes effectively, invest in side businesses, and achieve financial independence.

The training, led by renowned financial expert Professor Lawrence Ssemwogerere, emphasized the importance of saving and investing in additional income streams. “Financial independence is key to reducing stress and improving wellbeing and productivity,” Prof. Ssemwogerere noted. He encouraged staff to start small and be consistent in saving and investing, highlighting the benefits of compound interest.
NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong emphasized the significance of financial management knowledge, urging staff to avoid extravagant lifestyles and maximize savings. “Financial literacy is crucial for personal growth and development,” Todwong stressed. He encouraged staff to prioritize needs over wants and avoid debt traps.
The training demonstrated the party’s commitment to empowering staff to achieve financial independence, aligning with the NRM manifesto (2021-2026). “We are dedicated to improving the lives of our staff,” said Hon. Rosemary Seninde, NRM director of Mobilisation. She emphasized the importance of financial literacy in achieving personal and national development goals.
Staff members expressed gratitude for the training, citing newfound knowledge and confidence in managing their finances. “I have learned the importance of saving and investing in my future,” said one staff member. Another staff member noted, “I will start a side business to supplement my income and achieve financial independence.”
The financial literacy training marks a new chapter in the lives of NRM Secretariat staff, empowering them to achieve financial independence and improve their overall wellbeing. As the party continues to prioritize staff development, Uganda’s economic growth and development are poised to benefit from a financially literate and empowered workforce.
