Alebtong, Uganda – The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Alebtong, Mathias Lutwama, has outlined major development achievements in the district, attributing them to the unwavering commitment of the NRM government under President Yoweri Museveni.

Speaking yesterday to over 200 NRM leaders from across the district, Lutwama presented a clear account of progress in education, health, economic empowerment, and post-conflict justice.
Lutwama reported that the district now boasts four fully functional seed secondary schools—Angetta, Abia, Amugu, and Awei—offering quality education that meets modern standards.
He stated that these institutions were a direct response to the government’s recognition of the educational needs of today’s child.
He further noted that Alebtong’s educational landscape had been strengthened by the establishment of Amugu Agro Technical Institute and Abia Technical Institute.
According to him, these institutions represent government efforts to provide technical skills aligned with global education trends.
Turning to health, Lutwama said ten Health Centre IIIs had been established and equipped across the district’s 14 sub-counties.
He explained that this expansion was made possible due to the peace and stability prevailing in the country, which allowed for proper population planning and delivery of social services.
He added that the presence of these facilities was already having a measurable impact, improving access to healthcare and reducing preventable deaths.
On economic empowerment, Lutwama revealed that 17,355 households had each received one million shillings under the Parish Development Model (PDM).
He explained that the support had enabled many rural families to venture into farming and small-scale agribusiness, aligning with the government’s objective of boosting household incomes and transforming subsistence into commercial production.
Lutwama also confirmed that the first phase of President Museveni’s pledge to compensate Lango war claimants had commenced.
In Alebtong District alone, 1,000 individuals had each received UGX 2 million.
He described this as a significant step in addressing historical injustices and restoring dignity to the affected families.
Concluding his address, Lutwama said the achievements reflect the NRM government’s consistent delivery of its promises and its deep commitment to uplifting communities.
He urged local party leaders to remain mobilized and continue educating the public on the ongoing development programs.
He emphasized that Alebtong’s transformation was not based on political rhetoric but on actual service delivery backed by strategic planning and action.
