Nurturing Tomorrow’s Leaders: How Crane Junior School is Shaping the Future

Lira, Uganda – In a colorful and heartwarming ceremony, 74 young children from Crane Junior School proudly graduated, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey.

The event, held at the school’s campus in Anai Ward, was attended by parents, teachers and community leaders, all celebrating the achievements of these bright young minds.

The ceremony, which saw children from the top class receive accolades, was a reminder of the crucial role education plays in shaping the future.

Mr. Odeke Alfred, a representative of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), expressed profound gratitude to the school administration for their dedication to nurturing the children from baby class up to top class.

His words were full of praise for the commitment shown by both the school and parents.

“Raising children from nursery to this moment is no small feat,” Mr. Alfred remarked. “As parents, we must always support our children, both in challenging and good times, to ensure they receive the education they deserve. It is vital to begin early at the nursery level, as it is difficult for children to catch up with their peers if they miss this foundational stage.”

He also appealed to school directors to be more understanding when parents face financial difficulties in paying school fees, urging open communication and collaboration for the benefit of the pupils.

Mr. Okwir Denis, the Director of Studies (DOS) at Crane Junior School, took the opportunity to commend the school’s director, Mr. Odaga Geoffrey, for his unwavering leadership.

Under Mr. Odaga’s direction, Crane Junior School has become one of the top-performing schools in Lira City, ranking among the top 10 for academic excellence.

“We are proud of what we’ve accomplished at Crane Junior School, and this success is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated teachers and the tireless support of our parents,” said Mr. Okwir. “The commitment of these graduating children has brought us to this moment of celebration, and we couldn’t be prouder.”

He further encouraged parents to nurture their children’s spiritual growth by ensuring they attend church or mosque, depending on their faith.

“A strong foundation in education must be complemented by a strong foundation in values,” he added.

Mr. Okello Ambrose, the Head Teacher of Crane Junior School, praised the parents for their role in providing the necessary scholastic materials and creating an environment conducive to learning.

He emphasized the importance of continuing education beyond nursery school.

“Nursery education is the foundation of every child’s academic journey,” Mr. Okello said. “We encourage you, as parents, to continue supporting these children as they move into primary school. Their journey doesn’t end here; it’s just beginning.”

He also offered advice to parents on handling their children during the holidays.

“It’s important to maintain close relationships with your children during their breaks. Many of them are exposed to various influences at school, and as parents, you must guide them to make wise choices, especially when it comes to the content they consume during their free time.”

Mr. Odaga Geoffrey, the Director of Crane Junior School, was visibly proud as he announced that all 74 graduates had been admitted to Primary One at the school, ensuring they continue their academic journey within the same nurturing environment.

He also shared exciting news that Crane Junior School has secured land for the construction of a new school, which will further expand the institution’s impact on the community.

The Guest of Honor, Mr. Mike Ogwang Olwa Veve, the former Mayor of Lira Municipality and a prominent community leader, expressed his appreciation for the school’s efforts in transforming the local education landscape.

He lauded the school’s holistic approach to education, which he believes is providing valuable opportunities for children in the Anai community.
