Ocen Vows to Strengthen NRM, Bridge Government Programs to Alebtong

Alebtong, Uganda | Newly elected NRM district chairperson for Alebtong, Robert Ocen, has pledged to uphold integrity and ensure timely access to government programs for all residents of the district.

Speaking after his victory in the party elections held last week, Ocen said his leadership will focus on fighting corruption and promoting inclusive governance by working with elders, youth, religious leaders, persons with disabilities, workers, and political leaders.

“…In my leadership, there will be no room for corruption. I will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that government programs are brought closer to the people…,” Ocen said.

Among the key pillars of his campaign manifesto was the promotion of unity and the elimination of discrimination and segregation among party leaders and supporters within the district.

He emphasized that inclusiveness is vital for the growth and development of the NRM in Alebtong.

Ocen further extended an olive branch to those who contested against him, calling for unity and collective effort in building the party.

“…To those who contested and didn’t make it, I urge you to join hands with us. Let us work together to strengthen the NRM and bring development to our people…,” he appealed.

Ocen garnered 234 votes, defeating his closest rival Francis Owino who polled 195 votes, prompting the district registrar to declare him the winner.
