Otuke District | In a bid to address deep-rooted social issues affecting young men and vulnerable families, Otuke District Local Government is set to sign a three-year partnership with CCI Uganda under the Real Fathers Project, an initiative aimed at promoting positive parenting and restoring family values.
The project, spearheaded by CCI Uganda a locally registered NGO under the Ministry of Internal Affairs was officially introduced at an inception meeting closed today by Isaac Opeo from the Office of the President.
The intervention targets young fathers aged 16 to 25, a group grappling with alcoholism, drug abuse, and the lingering effects of cultural disintegration caused by war, cattle rustling, and poverty.
CCI Uganda’s approach focuses on mentorship, non-violent discipline, and father-led caregiving, with the broader goal of reducing domestic violence and improving social behavior.
The project will work in close collaboration with the district’s Education, Community Development, and Probation offices.
Officials say the Real Fathers Project is timely, particularly in rural districts like Otuke where broken families and absentee fathers are contributing to school dropouts, crime, and poor health outcomes among children.
Isaac Opeo The Assistant Resident District Commissioner of Otuke commended the initiative, noting that rebuilding the moral fabric of society must begin with strong, responsible homes.
He emphasized the government’s support for such grassroots interventions, which complement national efforts to achieve social transformation.
The meeting was attended by the LC5 Chairperson, Chief Administrative Officer, DCDO, and several technical staff, who welcomed the partnership and pledged full cooperation during implementation.
Once signed, the Memorandum of Understanding will lay the foundation for community healing and offer young fathers a second chance not only to raise better children, but to become better men.

This is agreat idea and development for the community, especially for the benefit of challenged young men. My prayers for the effort.
