Lira, Uganda | The Overseer of Christian Renewal Church Lira City Branch, Pastor John Kizza, has denied claims that he is involved in a land dispute with Lira Regional Referral Hospital and dismissed rumours circulating that he is dead.
Kizza clarified the matter on Sunday, March 8, 2026, while addressing journalists at All Nations Gospel Church in Lira City.
He said neither he nor his church has any ongoing land wrangle with the hospital, contrary to reports circulating among the public.
Kizza explained that the land in question belongs to him personally and was legally purchased from Imat Fatuma using his own money.
He noted that he bought the land with the intention of expanding gospel preaching in Lira City and across the Lango subregion.
Kizza further stated that there is no court case between him and Lira Regional Referral Hospital, insisting that the land people are talking about is his property which he bought using his own resources.
He also dismissed claims that he had died, saying the information being circulated is false and that he is alive and continuing with the work of God while also taking care of many orphans.
Kizza also addressed reports about the relocation of Christian Renewal Church Lira City Branch to Wanale in the Bugisu subregion.
He explained that in 2015, he handed over the church to a group of members but later discovered that corruption had taken centre stage, which forced him to intervene.
According to him, the second group that later took over leadership under Rev. Fabious Okori mismanaged church property and went ahead to sell several items belonging to the church, including amplifiers, speakers, a keyboard, furniture, and chairs.
He said the alleged mismanagement prompted him to relocate the church to Wanale in Eastern Uganda, where Pastor Margret is currently overseeing the church activities in that region.
Kizza added that there are plans to sell the former church land in Lira City to interested buyers.
Christian Renewal Church is among the religious organisations preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ in Lango and across Uganda, with outreach activities extending to countries such as North Korea, South Korea, Singapore, other parts of Asia and the United States of America.
