Police Condemn Assault on Artist Lil Square, Pledge Thorough Investigation

Lira, Uganda – The territorial police in Lira have issued a statement regarding the assault of local artist Ogwang Walter, popularly known as Lil Square, and the malicious damage to his vehicle.

The incident occurred on January 3, 2025, along Obote Avenue in Lira City.

According to SP PJ Okema, the PRO for North Kyoga Police, the suspects, led by Pastor Awio Isaac, allegedly attacked Lil Square over a contract dispute.

Awio reportedly hired six bouncers to confront the artist, demanding money and blocking his white Toyota Max 2 Grand, registration number UAU 045Q.

The confrontation escalated into violence, leaving the artist assaulted and his vehicle’s windshield damaged.

“The Uganda Police Force strongly condemns the act of violence perpetrated against Lil Square. We will investigate this matter thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice,” Okema stated in a press release.

Eyewitnesses reported that Awio and his accomplices caused significant disruption to business along Obote Avenue during the attack.

The timely intervention by the police led to the arrest of some suspects, who are now in custody
